The Part They Don't Tell You About Buying A House

“The lawyer needs the check tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?”
“Yes. Tomorrow.”
“Shit.”
“Exactly. Did your paycheck finally show up?”
“No, and they don’t know where it is and they won’t issue a new one.”
“Just f***ing great.”
“Okay, well, I guess I can pull $-- from this account and $-- from that account…”
“That’s still not going to be enough!”
“I know.”
“Plus, there’s going to be 5-day holds!”
“I know.”
“I just wish we had just transferred the bloody money last week.”
(snorts)
“What?”
“Well honey! I told you last week we should transfer the money and you said, ‘no, don’t bother, we have plenty of time.’ And here we are….”
“I know, I know.”
"I should have just gone ahead and done it."
"That does us no good right now."
“Look, maybe we can do this, that and then this.”
“Fine.”
“Fine.”
"It'll be fine."
"I know it'll be fine. It's just...."
"I know."

(To top it off, my fingers still type ctrl-C like they're on my PC at my recently concluded job. Clearly, they're having trouble letting go.)

Marital Conversations

During our typical evening call, Trevor had the nerve to say I sound like this:
“Yay, I’m done my job!”
“Oh shit, I’m unemployed.”
“I love Cross Fit!”
“I’m sooooo sore. I hate being so sore.”
“We should drive the long way back to Toronto to see the country.”
“We should go through the States cuz the dog might be uncomfortable.”
“I don’t know if I want to move to Saskatchewan.”
“I just bought us a house….”

It’s not the fact that he points out my inconsistencies. It’s the fact that he imitates me in a shrill, old lady voice. I’m going to take up smoking, cuz I’d rather be a Bea Arthur than a Betty White.

I'm Back!

Hello, lovies! Oh, how I missed you. It's kind of exciting to be back. I realize that a big chunk of my life is going to be unaccounted for, unrecorded, because I couldn't find the time to update.

And a lot happened. The contract was a tough one, but I survived. I've made great new friendships. And best of all, seven months away from my husband has not resulted in divorce. Not even close.

(Just a lot of whining. On my part. Which is funny because this whole thing was my bloody idea.)

Oh, and we bought a house. So every once in awhile I stop dead in my tracks and clutch at my stomach, hoping my lunch stays down. Eek, a mortgage. A really big freakin' mortgage. I'm going to need this blog because it'll provide free entertainment for the next 25 years.

So. Yeah.

Good to be back.

P.S. I'm also unemployed again. **clutches stomach**
